Expertise

Cloud and DevOps

DevOps here is a delivery system, not a job title. Code, infrastructure, and the path to production are reviewed the same way, so a release is repeatable and a failure is visible.

In brief, then in detail

  • One path to production. Build, test, and deploy for development, staging, and production. A manual step that only one person knows is a risk on the register.
  • Environments as code. Docker, Kubernetes where the operational load is justified, and Terraform or the equivalent. Staging should resemble production closely enough that surprises are rare.
  • Observability. Logs, metrics, and traces for the failure you expect, plus the business event the sponsor cares about. Alerts have an owner.
  • Cost and access. Who can change production, and what the platform spends. Both are governance, not housekeeping.

How it is run

Pipeline work is planned in the same backlog as features when it carries delivery risk. A sprint that cannot deploy is not a healthy sprint, even if the demo was convincing on a laptop. Handover includes the pipeline, the secrets process, and the on-call notes. IncogX does not leave a client with a cluster nobody else can explain.

Delivery system

  • GitHub Actions
  • GitLab CI
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Google Cloud

Terms, in plain language

  • CI/CD. Continuous integration and delivery. Changes are built and tested automatically, and released on a path you can audit.
  • Pipeline. The automated steps from a change to a running environment. If it is red, the change is not done.
  • Observability. Enough signal to know what the system is doing, and whether the business event happened, without logging into a server to guess.
  • Least privilege. People and services get the access the job needs, and not the keys to everything because it was faster once.
